The Jacob Hamblin House

Just outside St. George is the tiny town of Santa Clara, where Jacob Hamblin, a Mormon apostle to the Indians and homesteader of Southern Utah, built a homestead in the 1800's. He also built a place on the Kaibab Plateau near the Grand Canyon, called Jacob's Lake, where I worked for a summer. So it was fun to visit this little site.

What a gigantic spinning wheel! I'm glad I have no idea how to use one of these.

Isaiah shows off a child-size spinning wheel.

A saddle that is original to Jacob Hamblin.
